Questions
Should tip be calculated before or after tax?
Custom in the US is to tip on the pre-tax subtotal, which is what this calculator does. Tipping on the after-tax total gives the server a little more; either is fine.
Why does one person pay a cent more?
A total that does not divide evenly has to land somewhere. The calculator gives the leftover cents to the first people in the list instead of hiding them.
