Commits are free and reversible until the gate locks. Then the payer books, the roster freezes, and everyone settles up.
How the commit works
- Name the plan, the estimate, how many people it needs, and the deadline.
- People tap in or out; the meter shows how close it is.
- At K the plan locks; the payer marks it booked and the ledger opens for settling.

Does SparkChat hold the money?
Never. The widget holds state about money: who owes, who marked paid, who confirmed. Payment happens on Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or cash.
Where does a widget live?
In the group chat, as a live card everyone can tap, and on the group’s board when someone pins it. Both surfaces show the same object; a change on one lands on the other instantly.
Does everyone in the group need the app?
To use the widget in the chat, yes. Several widgets also have a browser version on this site that works with no account, linked from this page when one exists.
